The School

At Chiswick & Bedford Park Preparatory School we place great importance on developing each child’s potential and imagination in a secure and caring environment. Our enthusiastic and dedicated teaching staff work hard to motivate pupils and to foster within them a love of learning. Chiswick & Bedford Park is a friendly, happy school where creativity is developed, lessons are exciting and learning is fun.

In addition to the attainment of high standards, pupils build personal qualities of confidence, self-reliance and respect for others, in preparation for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

History, Location & Reputation

Chiswick & Bedford Park Preparatory School was established in 1915 as the local co-educational Independent School. It has maintained and enhanced its excellent reputation, providing a broad-based and exciting education for pupils aged four to eleven years. It is situated in a large Grade II Victorian house in Bedford Park and is within a few minutes walk of Turnham Green Tube Station. The School, which has approximately 185 pupils, prepares boys for entry to preparatory departments of senior secondary schools at seven, and girls are prepared for entry to the Independent London Day Schools and boarding Schools at eleven. The School is well known for its high rate of success in scholarship and entrance examinations, and it has maintained its long established reputation for high academic achievement, whilst encompassing the latest developments in education and best teaching practice.

Outstanding Success

We are delighted that one of our Year 6 pupils won The Times Educational Supplement’s Children’s Literary Award, Write Away; there were over 8000 entries in this competition. Josie attended the Awards Ceremony at the Globe Theatre to receive her prize from the judges, Michael Rosen and Jacqueline Wilson. At Chiswick and Bedford Park Preparatory School, we are very proud of the amazingly high standards which our pupils attain in all areas, and this national recognition is a testament to the talent, commitment and enthusiasm of everyone concerned.
