Value of the Month – Independence

This month our Value of the Month at Chiswick & Bedford Park is independence. Reception have chosen this value, and we will have posters around the school highlighting this important skill to all the children.

Form 3 Class Assembly!

On Friday 11th June Form 3 performed their class assembly. Highlighting the importance of protecting rain forests around the world, all the pupils took turns to tell us an amazing fact before singing a brilliant song about the layers of the forest layers. Well done Form 3!

Form 6 visit the Thames Explorer Trust

On Friday 28th May Form 6 enjoyed a visit to the Thames Explorer Trust in Chiswick, West London.

The class had a brilliant time taking part in a wide range of activities including discovering the depth of the river (2.5m) using weights and pond dipping where they found flounders, swan mussels, Asiatic clams, Mitten crabs, mayfly larvae, hog louse, wandering snails.

Thank you to the team at Thames Explorer for such an interesting and informative day!

Save the Date for the CBPPS Summer Street Party!

We are delighted to announce the date for the CBPPS Summer Street Party 2021 – Saturday 3rd July!

Tickets (which are available now) are priced at just £5 per person and include a food token along with admission to the event.

With games, music, a tombola, food and more available it is sure to be an occasion not to be missed!

Reception’s ‘Out of this World’ Class Assembly!

On Thursday 27th May the Reception children all took part in their first class assembly. The theme of the show was space, and all the children learnt facts about the planets, the moon landing and the solar system before performing Aliens Save The World! Well done to Reception for putting on such an excellent assembly!

Forms 3, 4 & 5 visit the Gunnersbury Triangle

On Thursday 20th May Forms 3, 4 & 5 visited the Gunnersbury Triangle in Chiswick to go pond-dipping and insect investigating. Each form group enjoyed an interactive tour of the triangle, and took turns to roll logs looking for interesting minibeasts before using nets to carefully discover the creatures that live in the pond. Thank you to the team at the Gunnersbury Triangle for such an exciting and informative day!

Pyjamarama Day at CBPPS!

On Friday 14th May pupils and teachers took part in Pyjamarama Day at CBPPS.

To raise money for the BookTrust everyone donned their favourite unicorn onesie, superhero pyjamas or multicoloured dressing gown and by the end of the day a grand total of £378.68 had been raised!

Value of the Month – Cheerfulness

This month our Value of the Month at Chiswick & Bedford Park is cheerfulness. Form 4 have worked together to create a fun-filled poster full of reasons to be cheerful that they have put up around the school. Their reasons include puppies, hugs, snowball fights, playing in the park, dancing and jumping – all of which sound like great reasons to be cheerful!

Artist of the Month – May 2021

This month at Chiswick & Bedford Park our Artist of the Month is Edward Hopper (1882 – 1967). Born in Nyack, New York, Hopper worked as a commercial advertising artist whilst painting his own art at the same time. His work captured everyday scenes such as gas stations (seen in Gas painted in 1940), cafes (including one of his most famous paintings Nightworks painted in 1942) and hotels (Western Motel painted in 1957). Some of his work can now be seen in the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Forms 5 & 6 Cycling Proficiency.

This week Forms 5 & 6 have been taking to the open roads of Chiswick and learning all about cycling. Each Form has been guided by a professional instructor, as they learn about road and bike safety. For Form 6 this is especially important, as some of them may wish to start cycling to secondary school in September!
