The Year 2 Boys’ trip to Alice Holt Forest was a resounding success, with everyone learning a range of army survival skills under the guidance of resident expert Nigel.
From eating ants’ eggs and locating and handling slow-worms, to making their own camouflage paint from dock leaves, the boys were taught the ways of the forest, including which plants can be plucked straight from the earth and eaten (and are actually quite tasty!), to ones which should generally be avoided due to their poisonous content.
The trail was completed by making waterproof woodland dens, lighting flints to start the campfire and, most importantly of all, roasting marshmallows.
A fantastic day was had by all.
