Meet the CBPPS ducklings!

We have some fluffy newcomers to Nursery this half term – meet the CBPPS ducklings!

The nursery children have been learning about the ducklings and looking after them (with lots of supervision!) since before they hatched.

We’ll be sharing more photos of the ducklings on our Instagram and Twitter pages soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates!

Artist of the Month – Wayne Thiebaud

Our Artist of the Month for March 2022 is Wayne Thiebaud.

Born in the Arizona, USA in 1920, Thiebaud had a varied career and became a very successful artist in a number of fields.

He worked as an illustrator for an air corps newspaper during the war, a commercial artist in advertising and in the Disney animation department before becoming an art teacher and assistant professor at the University of California.

He used vibrant oil paints to create paintings of popular American foods and landscapes.

Year 4 Class Assembly

On Friday 25th February Year 4 performed their excellent class assembly for parents and the school. Based on the themes ‘facing your fears’ and ‘self belief’, (our value of the month), the class performed excerpts from classic nursery rhymes and popular children’s stories such as After the Fall (How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again) by Dan Santat.

Well done to Year 4 for remembering all your lines, songs and stories!

Value of the Month – February

This February our Value of the Month is self-belief. Having self-belief means building confidence in yourself through giving things a try and saying ‘I can’.

Friday Sushi Feast at CBPPS!

On Friday 4th February, pupils and teachers were treated to a freshly-prepared sushi buffet thanks to our school caterers Holroyd Howe. A variety of healthy vegetarian and fish options were available to try, and all varieties proved to be very popular!

Thanks to you the chefs for preparing such a great feast for Friday lunch!

Spring Term House Assembly

What a fun way to start a Friday! On Friday 4th February the four school houses (Hogarth, Shaw, Thornycroft and Yeats) got together to play games, make crafts and get to know the other children in their houses.

Hogarth played group games in the hall where they had the chance to win prizes organised by the house captains, whilst Yeats designed Valentines cards.

Well done to the house captains for organising their assemblies!

Years 3 & 4 visit the British Museum

On Friday 28th January Years 3 & 4 visited the British Museum in Bloomsbury, London. Both classes were keen to discover more about the topics they have been learning about in history this term, and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in two workshops before visiting the exhibits from Ancient Egypt.

Reception’s Antarctic Assembly!

On Friday 28th January, Reception S performed a fantastic class assembly for their parents and the school. Inspired in part by the story of Cuddly Dudley by Jez Alborough, the children brought to life the animals of Antarctica through songs and dances.

Well done to Reception S for learning all your lines so brilliantly!

Antarctic Adventures in Reception

This term Reception are learning all about the Antarctic, and as part of their scientific studies this week they have been investing ice. The children worked together to free the polar animals, and they discovered that salt helps ice to melt quicker.
